Dr. Islam completed his medical degree in Bangladesh. He then migrated to the other side of the globe to the US and joined Internal Medicine residency at the University of Illinois. The challenges during ICU rotations drew him towards critical care. He completed his Critical care fellowship at Mayo clinic in Rochester Minnesota.
Dr. Islam spent the early days of his professional life in Saskatchewan, practicing cardiology and critical care. He joined Lakeridge Health in 2009. Over the years he saw tremendous growth of Critical care services including the integration of teaching and research and is proud to be a member of this team.
